Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo urged law deans to incorporate real-world issues into legal education to prepare students for current and future challenges.

“You integrate real-world issues into the curriculum and foster a deep sense of social responsibility in your students,” Gesmundo said at the 2025 Philippine Association of Law Schools, Inc. (PALS) Annual Convention.

“You shape legal education to produce professionals who will advocate for those in need, challenge injustice, and uphold the fundamental values of a free and fair society,” the chief justice added.

Additionally, Gesmundo urged law educators to adopt technological tools like artificial intelligence (AI) and emphasized the need to teach law students how to use them effectively and ethically.

“AI is reshaping the practice of law, from legal research and document review to predictive analytics and case strategy,” he noted.

Meanwhile, 2025 Bar chairperson Associate Justice Amy Lazaro-Javier sought law schools’ support in ensuring the success of the digitalized and localized 2025 Bar exams.

“This is a reality that the Court has fully embraced and seized in its leap forward to be technologically-adaptive,” she said.

Also present was 2024 Bar Examinations Chairperson Associate Justice Mario Lopez, who reflected on last year’s Bar Exams.
