The Supreme Court (SC) will accept applications for the 2025 Shari’ah Special Bar Examinations (SSBE) until 3:00 PM on February 28, 2025.

SC Associate Justice Antonio T. Kho Jr., chairperson for this year’s examinations, issued Shari’ah Special Bar Bulletin No. 2 on January 30, formally opening the application period and outlining the requirements and venue assignment procedures.

Under Bar Matter No. 5067, applicants must be Filipino citizens, at least 21 years old, with a Philippine domicile, good moral character, no pending cases or charges involving moral turpitude in any Philippine court, and must have completed the required training or academic qualifications.

The SC also announced the tentative testing centers for the 2025 Shari’ah Special Bar Examinations, designating venues in Cagayan de Oro City, Davao City, Quezon City, and Zamboanga City.

The 2024 Shari’ah Bar Exams made history as the first digitalized and regionalized Shari’ah Bar, marking a milestone in the administration of the examinations.

It also saw a significant increase in examinee participation, with 855 candidates taking the exam on Day 1, a notable rise from 526 examinees in 2022.

Of the 2024 examinees, 591 took the test at Ateneo de Davao University, while 264 were assigned to the University of the Philippines-Diliman.
